A short rant about new light fixtures
I just wanted the lamp to be nice and bright but I guess I can't even have a 100 watt equivalent bulb.

Making a small plastic snap ring from a milk bottle experiment
Переглядів 585 місяців тому
This was an experiment to see if it would be possible to make a usable plastic snap ring from some plastic from a milk bottle. The snap ring I made works, but it doesn't appear to be fully seated. I think the plastic is too thick, and the hole is too small. It would also be good to have a larger selection of small drill bits. It probably isn't worth ordering a drill bit since it probably is che...

When I listen to as long as you follow, sometimes I imagine if the song just cut to learning to fly, so I decided to put the 2 together in audacity. If I knew what I was doing it might flow a bit better.
Harbor Freight Predator 212 Test Run

Believe it or not it fired up first pull! I did turn over the engine a few times before trying to start it up. It's kinda funny because I'm pretty sure the gas I used was the gas that sat for at least a year after I siphoned it out of my 1989 toyota pickup. I misread the manual, it said that for an emergency shutoff to just turn off the switch, so i figured there was a different switch to turn ...
1 HP Bandsaw go BRRRRR
Переглядів 1973 роки тому
Upgraded my bandsaw to a 1 HP 3450 RPM motor. It used to have a 1/3 HP 1750 RPM motor. The pulley on the 1HP motor is a bit smaller than whatI had on the 1/3HP motor, but the saw still runs a lot faster now!

    the thing about LED heating is that it only got to a very severe state when the LED itself is overdriven, high quality LED can be 40 to 60 degrees celcius, but overdriven low quality LED can reach up to 80 degrees celcius, i have one and i can say that its not a fun experience holding it

    There is a other solution, use a VBE multiplier, basically stick another NPN on the bases of the NPN (collector)/PNP (emitter), a timer and resistor.

    Update: The diodes were probably fine. I thought that a healthy diode would measure close to 0Ω on a multimeter, which is not the case. Diodes don't start flowing current until the voltage across them reaches 0.7V (obviously it has to be in the right direction).

      @albertlagerman 7 місяців тому

      @@bilsaf2 I have no idea, and a quick google search didn't bring up any service manuals, so we're kind of on our own at this point. What I'd try is opening up the subwoofer, and the other speaker and see if the pins are labeled on the circuit boards. If they aren't, then I'd try tracing out the circuit traces and construct a schematic based on that, and that might give you enough info the figure out where each wire should go.

    Somehow, your one singular floppy drive sounded better than the ones that tried to run on multiple. I think it's probably because the others ended up drowning the tones of the other ones. The only other one that sounded good was the two floppy drive one, but iirc relied on beeps, which was more grating on the ears.

    Mines about the same. Can we tell ourselves that the tidy are dull, a bit insane and not so bright? I am taking a shine to Rod Elliot's way of thinking. I find myself in the DIY rabbit hole and some designs are getting awfully expensive to stuff and quite complicated for me, not being that well versed in electronics. These seem simpler.

    I discovered a problem yesterday with my 113.298030 Craftsman table saw when I tried to tilt the blade to cut a 45 degree. Beyond 10 degrees it got increasingly hard to turn the wheel. I did everything I could to get it freed up to no avail....could only get to 20 degrees. Brushed the screw rod, lubed it everywhere I could. Don't know why it's so hard to turn...do you have any ideas short of dismantling the saw???

    • @albertlagerman
      @albertlagerman 3 роки тому

      I've noticed the same thing with my saw, but haven't got around to fixing it yet. I'd suggest oiling your trunnions. I saw a video about someone with the same issue. At 7:40 in the video is when he talks about it. ua-cam.com/video/SrWFO10jeIw/v-deo.html

      @glenpaul3606 3 роки тому

      @@albertlagerman That was a good video. I tried to lubricate the trunions with dry lube but it didn't help. I don't know if it's possible to remove the trunions with the saw still upright and otherwise assembled? it would be difficult for me to have to turn it upside down and dismantle it.
